Meet The Crew Behind The 8 Count Edit

We’re Harper and Penelope—best friends, teammates, and competitive dancers—and Heather and Kaitlin, the dance moms behind the scenes making sure everyone gets where they need to be with the right costume, two shoes, enough snacks, and approximately 4,732 bobby pins.

Together, we’re The 8 Count Edit.

Dance is a pretty big part of our lives. There are hours in the studio, competition weekends, conventions, travel days, early mornings, late nights, costumes, rhinestones, stage makeup, and more swipes to our credit cards than we'd care to calculate.

And while the girls are living their best lives onstage, we're usually somewhere behind the curtain with a garment bag, a coffee, and a credit card that's seen better days.

We wouldn't trade it for anything.

Why We Started The 8 Count Edit

After years in competitive dance, the four of us have tried a lot of things—dancewear, bags, makeup, hair products, competition gear, travel essentials, snacks, recovery tools, organizational hacks... you name it.

Some have been amazing.

Some have definitely not made The Edit.

So we created a place where dancers and dance moms can find the things we genuinely use, love, and recommend—along with an honest look at this wonderfully chaotic world we call dance life.

You'll find our favorite dance finds, competition essentials, style picks, beauty favorites, travel must-haves, gift ideas, dancer fuel, dance-mom survival tips, and everything we've learned from spending a whole lot of time inside studios, theaters, convention centers, and hotel rooms.

For The Dancers

For Harper and Penelope, this is a place to share their love of dance, style, friendship, and all the fun that happens between rehearsals and performances.

Because as much as they love being onstage, dance has given them something even bigger.

It's taught them discipline, confidence, resilience, teamwork, how to celebrate someone else's win, and how to keep showing up when things get hard.

And somewhere between all those rehearsals, competitions and eight counts, it gave them a pretty incredible friendship too.

And For The Dance Moms

That's where Heather and Kaitlin come in.

We're sharing the side of competitive dance that doesn't always make it onto Instagram—the packing, organizing, driving, feeding, steaming, sewing, rhinestoning, scheduling, traveling, budgeting and occasionally wondering why we're awake at 4:30 a.m. applying false eyelashes to a child.

We've learned a few things along the way.
